UAV solution

1. Background Description

Nowadays, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has been applied in more and more scenarios like overhead inspection of power elements, fire inspection, post-disaster searching and rescue, etc. Under some extreme circumstances like smoke fog or total darkness in which normal visual camera is unable to realize the emergent missions, thermal camera would be an effective supplement for UAV solutions. 

 

2. Existing problems and our task

2.1 Solutions Brief Description

Currently SunCreative® has next solutions for UAV thermal detection and observation:

  1. Thermal imaging core: Quantum series (With shutter), ATOM series (No shutter)
  2. Thermal lens: wide-angle lens (5mm, 9mm), athermal lens (19mm, 25mm, 40mm)

Both Quantum and ATOM series have 384x288(17μm) and 640x480 (17μm) options. For UAV solution we recommend athermal lens for its light weight and easy manipulation of focusing.

3. ATOM 500/700 thermal system imaging core

3.1. Description.

 

ATOM module is the small sized option with dimension about 28x28x24mm. The smallest lens (19mm athermal) has size of φ36.2x24.6mm, and ATOM plus commonly used 19mm lens totally weights about 93g, which is a more appropriate solution for the requirement of lightness and compactness for UAV.

Athermal 5mm, 9mm, 19mm, 25mm, 40mm, 35mm, 50mm (customizable)

4. Quantum 500/700 thermal system imaging core

4.1. Description

Quantum weights about 40g, with dimension about 44x44x24.6mm (a miniaturized variant has size of 38x42x30.6mm). The other part is the lens. The bigger focus, the heavier the lens. The 19 mm athermal lens (smallest one) has weight of 51g. Yet we need to take care about the auxiliary parts weight. Thereafter, from data above, a Quantum module plus 19mm lens weights about 105g.

4.2. Lens options:

Athermal 5mm 9mm 19mm 25mm 35mm, 40mm 50mm (customizable)

 

4.3. Quantum 500(C)/700(C) size
